Monkey snatches 16-day-old infant in Cuttack village

CUTTACK: In a freak incident, a 16-day-old newborn was lifted by a monkey while he was sleeping in his house. The incident occurred in Talabasta village of Banki block in Cuttack district on Saturday.
Forest department officials and fire services personnel have launched a massive rescue operation in the area to trace the child. However, they are yet to find any clue about the baby.
Forest officials said Rama Krushna Nayak was sleeping on the verandah of his house with his 16-day-old baby boy when suddenly a monkey entered the house at around 6 am.The monkey lifted the baby and fled. Nayak's wife, who was doing some household work nearby, saw the monkey lifting her baby but before she could do something the animal had fled. She raised alarm following which family members and villagers rushed to the spot to trace the monkey.
